Heterogeneous Catalysis and Surface Science

The Farber Group is investigating the reaction pathways and poisoning mechanisms at complex heterogeneous catalyst interfaces, with the goal of the rational design of more efficient and selective heterogeneous catalysts with longer catalyst lifetimes. Using ultra-high vacuum (UHV) surface science techniques, we are probing the fundamental interactions guiding surface-mediated reactions over 1) oxide-supported metal nano-islands and 2) chiral modified transition metal surfaces.
